Casino Lugano marked 20 years of its operation, focused on regular entertainment, hospitality, catering, and regular growth in Ticino.
The initial gaming room in Lugano was uncovered in 1804, with the games “biribisso,” “bassetta” and craps.
In 1885 the Lugano Theatre was established, a building utilized for music and theatrical shows, dance parties, and performances. In 1912 it earned a license for small games and in 1922 its name was modified to Casino Kursaal. In 1970 the Municipality turned into the biggest shareholder. After 22 years, slot machines were presented in addition to the classic boule.
In 1993, “big games” were presented in Switzerland and the gaming house acquired the type “A” license. On 29th November 2002, Casinò Lugano SA was opened. At the moment, the shareholding of Casinò Lugano is 67% by the Municipality, 29% by Casinos Austria Swiss, and the rest by private shareholders. In 2014, the casino was restyled and the next years brought even greater success after the closure of the local Casino Campione.
It signed an agreement with Playtech in 2021, allowing Swiss4Win.ch will to introduce the brand’s Information Management Solution (IMS), Casino, and Live Dealer games.
