Entain Receives Gaming and Poker License in Germany

Entain plc has received a license from the State Administrative Office of Saxony-Anhalt. This will allow the company to offer its gaming and poker services across Germany.

The Group has received five licenses it wanted and it is able to offer gaming under different platforms such as bwin, Ladbrokes, and Sportingbet brands. Additionally, the company can offer poker under bwin and Ladbrokes. Each license is awarded for a period of five years. Entain is the very first brand to be licensed to deliver online poker.

The new recognition is yet further proof that the developer offers some of the top services to players while enhancing its position as a leader in the sports betting and gaming sectors.

Entain has been very active recently. The leading sports betting, gaming, and entertainment group has just launched bwin, its premium sports betting brand, in Zambia. Customers in the country will now get access to a range of sports betting and casino products:

Speaking on the latest approval, Robert Hoskin, Chief Governance Officer at Entain, said:

“We’re delighted to now have our licenses for gaming and poker services in the regulated German market, enabling us to offer and market them to our customers. It is an important and welcome step towards achieving the goal of a fully regulated online betting and gaming market in Germany. 

Only through such regulation and its enforcement will we avoid the reality of customers going to the black market where there are none of the safeguards that reputable operators such as Entain guarantee.”

Germany has become one of the fastest-increasing markets in Europe. Only recently, Rootz has received a license for the operation of online slots.

Germany has passed the State Treaty on Gambling in 2021, and the federal and state governments have adopted nationwide regulation for online slots operation. This regulation is specifically based on the protection of users and minors. Malta-based Rootz has fulfilled all requirements of the State Treaty and which resulted in a license to operate online slots in the country.
