Pragmatic Play has expanded its live casino lineup with the launch of Seotda Baccarat, a new title that combines elements of traditional baccarat with the Korean card game Seotda.

The release introduces a different structure from standard baccarat by using a 20-card Hwatu deck instead of conventional playing cards. Each card in the deck represents a month from January through October and carries its own points value. Players wager on whether the player or banker hand will achieve the higher score after receiving two cards each.

Unlike traditional baccarat, the game removes the standard third-card draw mechanic, creating shorter rounds and a faster pace of play.

Korean-Inspired Gameplay Shapes New Baccarat Variant

Seotda Baccarat draws heavily from Korean gaming traditions through its use of Hwatu cards and Seotda hand rankings. The format keeps the familiar player-versus-banker wagering system associated with baccarat while introducing a separate ranking structure based on the Seotda card game.

According to product information released alongside the launch, the game aims to appeal to both experienced baccarat players and newcomers interested in Korean-inspired gameplay mechanics.

“A Korean classic card game, reborn for the baccarat table,” the game description states.

The title also incorporates side betting features connected to three special “Bright” cards identified with the East Asian symbol “光”. These Bright cards hold the highest values in the deck and are central to additional betting opportunities during gameplay.

Pragmatic Play said the side bets can produce larger returns than standard baccarat wagers. Features such as Player Bright and Banker Bright reportedly offer payouts reaching as high as 80:1.

“Further depth comes from three special ‘Bright’ cards,” the company explained. “Bright cards carry the highest value in the deck and are the focus of side bets, unlocking higher win potential compared to classic baccarat.”

Visual Design and Faster Gameplay at the Center of Launch

The company emphasized the game’s Korean-inspired presentation as part of its appeal. The visual design includes themed studio elements, dealer uniforms, and Hwatu card styling intended to create a distinctive appearance within live casino lobbies.

“Built to stand out in any lobby,” the promotional description said. “A bold, Korean-inspired visual identity across studio, uniforms, and Hwatu cards creates a distinctive, eye-catching presence designed to attract attention and pique interest.”

Pragmatic Play also highlighted the streamlined nature of the gameplay. The structure centers on two-card hands for both player and banker, with the higher-ranked hand determining the winner.

“Player vs Banker, two cards each, highest hand wins,” the game description stated. “A structured Seotda ranking system replaces standard baccarat comparisons, while side bets such as Player Bright and Banker Bright offer payouts of up to 80:1.”

The company said the combination of simpler mechanics and strategic side wagers was designed to create an accessible experience without removing depth for players already familiar with baccarat or Seotda.

Expansion Continues Across Live Casino Portfolio

Seotda Baccarat marks another addition to Pragmatic Play’s growing live casino offering. The release follows the company’s April launch of Gates of Olympus Roulette, a roulette title tied to one of its established slot franchises.

Sharon McHugh, Director of Public Relations at Pragmatic Play, said the company aimed to combine recognizable baccarat mechanics with cultural elements drawn from Seotda.

“Seotda Baccarat brings together two popular card games in a way that feels fresh and authentic,” McHugh said. “By combining the vibrant Hwatu deck with familiar baccarat betting mechanics, this release gives casinos a first-of-its-kind live casino experience designed to elevate their live lobbies. And, by the way, it’s pronounced soo-da!”

Pragmatic Play continues to expand its multi-product gaming portfolio across several verticals. In addition to live casino products, the company develops slot titles, bingo games, and virtual sports offerings through a single API system.
