ICONIC21 has expanded its online blackjack offering with the launch of Face Down Double Down, a new feature that adapts a well-known land-based casino mechanic for digital play.
The addition is now live in selected blackjack products from the supplier, including 7-Seater Blackjack and Private Blackjack. According to the company, the feature is designed to preserve traditional blackjack gameplay while introducing a different timing for how players receive information about a doubled hand.
The launch forms part of ICONIC21’s wider efforts to introduce new gameplay elements to established casino formats without changing their core rules or betting structures.
New Option Changes the Timing of Card Reveals
Face Down Double Down builds on one of blackjack’s most common strategic decisions: doubling down after the initial deal.
When eligible to double, players are now presented with two choices. The first, Double Face Up, follows the standard blackjack format in which the additional card is dealt and revealed immediately. The second, Double Face Down, keeps that card hidden until the dealer completes their hand.
In both cases, players double their original wager and receive only one additional card. The distinction lies entirely in when that card becomes visible.
Under the Face Down option, the card remains concealed throughout the remainder of the round. The player does not learn its value until the dealer has finished drawing and the hand reaches its conclusion.
The approach mirrors a blackjack practice found in some land-based casinos, where cards associated with a doubled wager may be dealt face down rather than revealed instantly.
Feature Draws Inspiration From Land-Based Blackjack
By delaying the reveal of the additional card, the feature introduces an extra period of uncertainty into the round while leaving the underlying game mechanics unchanged.
ICONIC21 said the concept was developed around a familiar player action rather than creating a new betting format. The objective is to retain the strategic foundations of blackjack while altering how information is presented during gameplay.
“Blackjack players already understand when and why they double,” ICONIC21 product owner team lead Andrii Savyntsev said. “Face Down Double Down doesn’t change the mathematics or the rules of the game. What it changes is the experience. By delaying the reveal, a Face Down Double turns the doubled hand into a moment of suspense that lasts until the dealer has finished.”
Because the feature operates within existing blackjack rules, players do not need to learn a new game structure. The betting process and decision-making framework remain consistent with traditional blackjack.

Available Through Existing Operator Connections
ICONIC21 said the feature is available immediately in selected blackjack titles and can be deployed by operators through current platform integrations.
The supplier also noted that the addition offers operators a way to introduce a different blackjack experience without modifying the fundamental mechanics of the game. Instead, the feature focuses on altering the pace and presentation of a hand through a delayed card reveal.
Face Down Double Down joins the company’s portfolio of gameplay enhancements aimed at updating familiar casino products while maintaining their established formats.
With the rollout now underway, players on supported ICONIC21 blackjack tables can choose between an immediate reveal and a concealed card when doubling down, bringing a land-based blackjack mechanic into the online environment.
