Pragmatic Play has expanded its presence in Canada by entering Alberta’s newly regulated online gaming market, becoming one of the early suppliers to secure certification in the province following the launch of the new regulatory framework.
The move gives Alberta-based operators access to a broad range of the company’s gaming products and strengthens Pragmatic Play’s position in the Canadian market, where it already maintains partnerships with several major operators in Ontario.
The supplier said its arrival in Alberta aligns with its ongoing efforts to increase its footprint across regulated jurisdictions in North America, with the province representing a significant addition to its regional strategy.
Pragmatic Play’s certification covers both its slot and live casino offerings, enabling operators to introduce a variety of titles to players as the market develops.
Slots and Live Casino Content Approved for Alberta
Among the games approved for the province are several of Pragmatic Play’s slot releases, including Fury of Anubis and Big Bass Blast. Players in Alberta will also gain access to the supplier’s well-known Gates of Olympus series, which has become one of the company’s most recognizable slot brands.
In addition to its slot portfolio, the certification extends to Pragmatic Play’s live casino products. Operators can offer a range of traditional table games, including blackjack, baccarat and roulette, alongside a selection of live game show-style experiences.
The launch follows the introduction of Alberta’s regulated online gaming market, a development that has attracted attention from suppliers and operators seeking opportunities in one of Canada’s largest provinces.
Pragmatic Play enters the jurisdiction with an existing presence in the country, having previously established relationships with tier-one operators in Ontario. Those partnerships helped bring the company’s content to players in Canada’s first regulated provincial iGaming market, providing experience that may support its expansion into Alberta.
Canadian Expansion Continues
The Alberta launch forms part of a broader North American growth strategy for Pragmatic Play. The company has continued to pursue opportunities in regulated markets, distributing its portfolio through a single API integration that allows operators to access multiple product categories.
Commenting on the expansion, Sharon McHugh, director of PR at Pragmatic Play, highlighted the significance of Alberta’s market opening.
“Alberta represents an exciting new adventure for regulated iGaming in Canada, and Pragmatic Play is delighted to be among the first suppliers bringing premium entertainment to operators and their players from day one.
Building on our strong momentum in Ontario, this expansion reinforces Pragmatic Play’s long-term commitment to the Canadian market. We look forward to working closely with partners across the province as the market continues to develop.”
The company’s entry comes at a time when suppliers are closely watching developments in Canada’s evolving online gaming landscape, with Alberta’s regulatory changes creating new opportunities for content providers and operators alike.

Alongside its geographic expansion, Pragmatic Play has also continued to broaden its live casino portfolio with the introduction of Amazing Baccarat, a new version of the long-established card game.
The release retains the traditional rules of baccarat and follows the structure of Speed Baccarat, preserving the faster pace associated with that format. The company has supplemented the familiar gameplay with additional features intended to increase potential payouts.
A central element of the game is the Lucky Card system. Before each round begins, five cards are randomly selected and assigned multipliers that can reach up to 200x. If any of those designated cards appear in the winning hand, the relevant multipliers are combined and applied to the standard payout.
The title also includes an additional side bet option, providing players with another way to participate beyond the conventional baccarat wagers.
