FanDuel and PokerStars, two famous iGaming operators that are active under the Flutter Entertainment brand, announced they signed an important partnership with Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment, the huge Canadian sports franchise.

Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment is the largest sports and entertainment company in the country as the corporation owns franchises in four of the six major professional sports leagues in North America.

The agreement will see FanDuel and PokerStars become the official partners of the Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment brands. FanDuel will become the official sports betting partner of the franchises, while PokerStars will be the official gaming partner.

The branding of both FanDuel sportsbook and PokerStars casino will feature throughout the home games of the Toronto Maple Leafs hockey team and Toronto Raptors basketball team, franchises that are active in the NHL and NBA respectively.

Moreover, the two iGaming operators will have the chance to work in partnership with all four franchises in the portfolio of Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment on marketing campaigns or customer VIP experiences.

Taking Aim At Ontario

Jordan Vader, the Senior Vice President for Global Partnerships at Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment described Flutter Entertainment as “a global leader and one of the most trusted operators in the sports betting industry” and expressed his delight at the signing of this partnership.

Moreover, Jordan Vader admitted that his company has been working hard to find such partners as the gaming market opened in Ontario. In conclusion of his statement, Jordan Vader added that his company is looking forward “to working with Flutter and providing a platform to engage with the millions of over-19 Ontario residents who are fans of our teams.”

The deal with PokerStars still has a hurdle to pass before becoming effective as the operator still has not received a license from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario.

Tom Warren, Marketing Director at PokerStars said that his company has “epic plans” for the Canadian gaming community and that they are looking forward “to creating some incredible experiences”. The PokerStars brand originates from Canada and the Marketing Director added that the launch will come “very soon”.

Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment also owns two other sports franchises, in addition to the Maple Leafs and Raptors: Toronto FC and Toronto Argonauts, which play in the MLS and CFL.
