Evolution Unveils Funky Time, its Latest Live Game Show

Posted on June 1, 2023 | 7:14 am

Evolution, the world’s most powerful supplier of live casino content, has announced that its already vast portfolio of live dealer games has expanded even further with the addition of Funky Time.

The new live game show was inspired by the 70s, it has vibrant colors and a disco theme and also features plenty of bonuses and multipliers. The company said in a press release that this title represents its “biggest new game show since Crazy Time.”

Evolution created this innovative new live casino title to celebrate the disco era, the game is played in an ambient that looks like a retro club, complete with funky beats and dance floor moves.

The core of the game is represented by a spinning money wheel, which was provided by DigiWheel, a company that was acquired by Evolution in 2021. The wheel generates several random multipliers every round and those can multiply winnings on numbers, letters and bonus games.

The wheel has 64 distinct segments, which spell out three key words: Play, Funk and Time. There are also a series of number 1s along with bonus game segments, which represent the gateway towards new opportunities for winnings and fun.

The number 1 or letter segments can give players instant wins, while the bonus segments will send them to one of the four available bonus games: Bar, Stayin’ Alive, Disco and VIP Disco. Multipliers are guaranteed in each of the four bonus games, which are spiced up by Mr Funky, a character that will break out his special moves on a virtual dance floor.

The Most Expensive and Complex Game

Todd Haushalter, the Chief Product Officer of Evolution, described Funky time as “the most expensive and complex game” ever created by the supplier, “a game that just oozes fun.”

The Evolution executive added that his company “invented” the live game show category with the launch of Dream Catcher and reminded that it “created most of the top 10 new games of the last five years.”

Todd Haushalter also revealed that the creation of the game started from the DigiWheel, “a big vertical revolving wheel with an electronic LED center”, and said that the team brainstormed ideas about a game that could take advantage of that. The production of the live game show involved around 100 Evolution employees, according to Todd Haushalter.
