BetMakers Strikes Deal With Royal Sabah Turf Club in Malaysia

Royal Sabah Turf Club in Malaysia has announced that it signed a landmark agreement with BetMakers, the global supplier of betting technology and content management services.

The Royal Sabah Turf Club hosts the famous Tambalang Race Course and it also owns an associated betting network that is operating off-course. After having signed this agreement, the betting network will be run through the Global Tote and Global Racing Network divisions owned by BetMakers.

The agreement between the two sides has a length of five years and it will also see BetMakers supply its Quantum betting system to the Royal Sabah Turf Club. Moreover, BetMakers becomes the exclusive distributor for the races held at the Malaysian club within Tote and fixed-odds markets.

BetMakers is the full owner of Global Tote, which was acquired from Sportech in 2021. It is Global Tote that will be in charge of delivering the Quantum system to the Malaysian club as a software-as-a-service solution, providing the Royal Sabah Turf Club all the operational tools to distribute its races to betting operators from all over the world.

A Route Towards Growth Opportunities

Lance Ku, the The Director of Sales & Business Development for Asia at Global Tote, declared himself pleased with the partnership with Royal Sabah Turf Club and added that his company’s solutions will offer the club the necessary features in order to deliver “a fantastic customer experience.” Moreover, Lance Ku said that now “Royal Sabah has a powerful route by which to pursue growth opportunities.”

Datuk Peter Chin, the Chairman of Royal Sabah Turf Club, revealed that he was pleased with the services received from Global Tote and added that the deal with BetMakers offers the club the most efficient, effective means by which to reach new markets for its racing” and to access new revenue streams.

The Royal Sabah Turf Club has a long-standing tradition in the Malaysian gaming market, as it held its first organized Race Meeting all the way back in 1908. Today its races are held every weekend featuring horses of mixed breeds, while thoroughbred horses are allowed to participate with handicap in races over 1,000 meters.
