ICONIC21 has introduced Face Down Double Down, a new feature for its online Blackjack portfolio that brings a traditional land-based casino mechanic to digital tables. Announced on 6 October 2026, the addition gives players a choice over when they see the extra card dealt after doubling their wager.

The feature is available in selected titles, including 7-Seater Blackjack and Private Blackjack. It retains the existing rules for doubling while changing how the additional card is revealed, allowing players to experience a longer period of uncertainty before the dealer completes the round.

The launch forms part of ICONIC21’s efforts to develop its established casino games through additions that preserve familiar gameplay while changing elements of the playing experience.

Two Doubling Options Give Players a Choice

After receiving their initial cards, players can choose between Double Face Up and Double Face Down. Both options require players to double their original bet and take one additional card.

With Double Face Up, the extra card appears immediately, following the conventional doubling procedure. Double Face Down keeps that card concealed until the dealer has finished their hand. Players therefore make the same type of wager under either option, but the timing of the reveal differs.

The delayed reveal is the defining feature of the new mechanic. Players must wait until the end of the round to see the card added to their doubled hand, extending the period before the result becomes clear.

ICONIC21 drew inspiration from land-based Blackjack, where dealers may deal the additional card face down after a player doubles. The online feature adapts that practice for digital tables while retaining the underlying betting structure.

ICONIC21 Says Core Rules Remain Unchanged

Andrii Savyntsev, ICONIC21 product owner team lead, explained the intention behind the addition.

“Blackjack players already understand when and why they double,” Savyntsev said. “Face Down Double Down doesn’t change the mathematics or the rules of the game. What it changes is the experience. By delaying the reveal, a Face Down Double turns the doubled hand into a moment of suspense that lasts until the dealer has finished."

The company says the mechanic requires little additional explanation for people already familiar with Blackjack. Since both choices follow the same doubling process and provide one extra card, the main adjustment concerns how long players wait before seeing that card.

For operators, the feature offers another way to distinguish their Blackjack tables. It introduces a different reveal sequence without requiring changes to the game's core rules, according to the announcement.

Feature Available Through Existing Integrations

Face Down Double Down is available immediately in selected ICONIC21 Blackjack games. Operators can integrate it through their existing platform connections, with no new integration method specified in the announcement.

The addition reflects ICONIC21’s approach to developing classic casino content through gameplay adjustments that maintain familiar mechanics. By adding an optional concealed-card reveal, the provider gives players another way to experience a standard doubling decision.

The company has not identified additional Blackjack titles scheduled to receive the feature. For now, availability is limited to selected games, including 7-Seater Blackjack and Private Blackjack.
