BetGames Study Shows Players Missed AI Game Show Hosts

BetGames-research-reveals-more-than-70_-of-players-failed-to-recognise-AI-avatar-gameshow-presenters

BetGames has released findings from an internal research project that tested whether players could identify artificial intelligence hosts replacing human presenters in a live game show format. The results suggest that most users did not recognise the difference, and player behaviour remained unchanged during the experiment.

The supplier conducted the trial by introducing AI-generated presenters designed as digital replicas of real hosts. The avatars appeared on one of the company’s live game shows for several days without any announcement to players. The goal of the initiative was to observe how audiences would react and to determine whether AI-driven hosts could function effectively in the same role as human presenters.

Data collected during the test period showed that fewer than 30% of players recognised that the presenters were generated using artificial intelligence. More than two-thirds of participants continued interacting with the product without noticing the substitution.

Players Continue Normal Gameplay During AI Trial

The research also examined how the introduction of AI presenters affected engagement and wagering activity. Several core indicators were monitored throughout the experiment, including session duration, bet frequency, and average stake size.

According to the company’s analysis, none of these indicators showed statistically significant changes while the avatars hosted the game show. Player activity levels remained consistent across the testing period.

The absence of measurable changes suggested that the presence of AI presenters neither improved nor harmed the player experience. Gameplay patterns continued in the same way as when human hosts were used.

These findings indicate that the technology can technically perform the role of a live presenter. At the same time, the results showed no operational advantage that would justify replacing human hosts across the company’s portfolio.

Financial and Technical Factors Limit Immediate Expansion

Although automation and artificial intelligence are often associated with cost reductions, the company reported that AI presenters currently do not provide meaningful financial benefits. Operating digital avatars around the clock still requires considerable computational resources.

Generating and maintaining an AI presenter continuously also involves infrastructure and processing demands that offset many potential savings. As a result, running an avatar 24 hours a day does not currently represent a cheaper alternative to employing live presenters.

The research also identified technical obstacles that remain unresolved. One of the most complex elements involves creating realistic text-to-speech systems capable of producing natural dialogue in a live broadcast environment.

As AI-generated voices improve, small speech imperfections become easier for audiences to detect. This places additional pressure on developers to refine the technology before it can be used widely in live casino productions.

Other challenges identified during the research include latency delays, issues with lip synchronisation, and inaccuracies in real-time language translation. These factors play an important role in live formats where timing and communication must remain precise.

Until these issues are addressed, the company indicated that large-scale deployment of AI presenters across its products is unlikely.

Company Continues Exploring AI Applications

The research forms part of a broader exploration of artificial intelligence technologies within the company. BetGames has invested in AI-related projects under the leadership of CEO Andreas Koeberl, who also co-founded Autonomous Minds, the developer behind the AI analyst Milo.

The initiative reflects ongoing efforts to examine how emerging technologies could influence the future structure of live casino entertainment.

Andreas Koeberl commented on the findings and the broader implications of the experiment:

“AI has been building up a head of steam, but its implications in the live casino space remain largely untested. When it comes to AI presenters, we built it, it worked, and nobody cared. That raises the question of what we are actually working toward.

The technology didn’t have a positive or negative effect on the player experience or product margins, and the cost of running an AI avatar 24/7 bears no significant advantage over employing human presenters.

So, rather than trying to replace humans and simulating what already exists, focus should turn towards what AI can make possible that wasn’t before. That’s where the real value lies.”

The research project highlights the current capabilities of AI avatars in live casino settings while also showing that practical benefits remain limited at this stage of development.
